We are recruiting a highly motivated research associate to join the Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology (MCP) team within the Preclinical Research department. The role will involve contributing to therapeutic design and validation, as well as performing preclinical studies for potential disease targets. A successful candidate will work collaboratively to support molecular and cellular-based assay design, execution and analysis in order to advance pipeline programs. They will demonstrate strong technical expertise in molecular biology and biochemistry, and will contribute to multiple projects in a fast-paced and dynamic research environment. Responsibilities:

  • Independently conduct and troubleshoot in vitro experiments and ex vivo assays in a Preclinical R&D environment with some guidance
  • Perform experiments in mammalian cell culturing with high proficiency
  • Demonstrate a high proficiency in molecular cloning and primer design
  • Demonstrate strong technical capabilities in MCP tasks including but not limited to: DNA/RNA/protein extraction from animal tissue and cultured cells, PCR, qPCR, cDNA library preparations, NGS sequencing, Western blotting, ELISA execution.
  • Analyze and interpret molecular, biochemical, and in vivo data with methodological rigor. Select and run appropriate statistical tests.
  • Participate in group meetings and present collated data packages for feedback and review
  • Follow company guidelines and document in detail experimental procedures, results and conclusions
  • Complying with all laboratory safety procedures
  • Perform additional tasks or assist with specialized projects as assigned or needed

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters in biology or related field, with 5+ years experience to include pharmaceutical industry, preferably in a research environment
  • Strong hands-on technical skills related to molecular biology required
  • High proficiency in molecular cloning
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique (primary cell culture
  • experience beneficial) required
  • Experience performing DNA, RNA, and protein-based assays
  • Some experience with viral vectors is preferred
  • Proficiency with molecular biology software such as Snapgene strongly preferred
  • Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Graphpad Prism, or other data analysis software are required
  • Demonstrate good time management, organizational and prioritization skills, and attention to detail
  • Experience following protocols and maintaining detailed laboratory notebooks
  • Work effectively within team-focused environment to meet objectives under time constraints
  • Ability to independently formulate experimental plans based on overall project goals
  • Exhibit willingness and flexibility to meet project timelines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Open to working collaboratively to meet tight timelines
  • Thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced research environment
