Accounts Payable Manager

The Accounts Payable Manager will be responsible for the management of the day-to-day activities of the accounts payable department, oversee accurate and timely processing of invoices, assist in Purchase Order Managements, communicate with suppliers and internal business partners about questions and resolve issues.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day to day operations of Accounts Payable.
  • Responsible for overseeing Analysts’ timely and complete processing of all AP transactions and ensuring accurate coding to General Ledger.
  • Support training and development of staff and help in setting operational goals.
  • Maintain effective relationships with business partners/vendors through timely and accurate payment and response to inquiries.
  • Conduct training for suppliers and troubleshoot access or usage issues.
  • Help develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for supporting accurate and timely completion of AP and Purchasing month-end closing process.
  • Prepare, review and analyze select journal entries and AP accruals where required.
  • Coordinate with the broader team to ensure efficient and accurate purchase order processing and timely resolution of discrepancies.
  • Oversee the Corporate Card program including Expense T&E program and Purchasing card program.
  • Approve and verify monthly JE’s for Corporate Credit Cards.
  • Supervise maintenance and filing of AP records in accordance with company guidelines
  • Identify and escalate priority issues timely to management.
  • Assist with audit schedules for external auditors as needed.
  • Execute/supervise preparation of annual 1099 and other AP compliance reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for ad-hoc reporting, and training.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience with at least 2 years as an Accounts Payable leader.
  • 4 year degree in Accounting or related degree.
  • Small to mid-sized company experience – public or private.
  • Sarbanes Oxley & associated controls monitoring and testing experience preferred.
  • Must have been responsible for the management and development of an AP team of 2 or more.
  • Experience working in ERP systems and experience in ERP implementations is a plus.
  • Experience with NetSuite and/or Coupa is a plus.
  • Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel skills.
  • Proven track record in making improvements in all areas of AP practices and policies.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must manage multiple priorities well and handle projects with short deadlines with extreme attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment – coordinating and collaborating to support the team and create shared solutions.
  • Must be able to take full ownership of assignments and responsibilities.

The Senior Accounting Manager will play a key role in the Finance organization ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), corporate policies, internal controls and external audits.

The candidate will be a hands-on Finance leader with strong operational and technical accounting expertise who thrives in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. This person will oversee the entire month-end close process, building and managing a team to scale with the growth of the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Full ownership of the G/L, including hands-on month-end/quarter-end/year-end close activities (journal entries, reconciliations, financial reviews).
  • Accountability and hands-on involvement in all company accounting-related matters.
  • Partner with the Controller in developing policies and interpretation of GAAP guidance and other key accounting and reporting areas, as needed.
  • Partner with the Finance team to identify and implement process improvements such as establishing infrastructure and governance, standardizing policies and procedures and accelerating the close cycle.
  • Drive internal controls compliance efforts, which includes evaluation, development, implementation, execution, and monitoring of controls and systems.
  • Lead and coordinate preparation for financial statement audits and tax compliance reporting (federal/state/sales tax filings and other compliance).
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
  • Other duties as mutually agreed upon.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA preferred.
  • At least 7-10 years of Accounting related experience (audit, consulting and corporate accounting) with at least 2-years at a public company
  • Mix of Big Four public accounting and life science industry experience preferred
  • At least 2-years of experience as a people manager
  • Advanced Excel skills to support month-end close and ad hoc analyses
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX 404 compliance
  • Prior experience with NetSuite, Coupa, Workiva and FloQast preferred
  • Positive work ethic, superb communication, and organizational skills with a high attention to detail, and unquestionable integrity and personal ethics

The Associate Director of Finance will play a key role in the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) organization. The candidate will be a hands-on, roll up your sleeves type of problem solver who can navigate the uncertainties of a fast-paced startup to provide technical and strategic guidance to the Research & Development (R&D) organization in all finance related matters. Responsibilities:

  • Act as FP&A lead for the R&D functions, including financial planning and tracking of operating expenses, headcount reporting, monthly close support, quarterly forecasting, annual budgeting/long-range plan and variance analyses
  • Lead the R&D organization in the annual operating plan process and conduct financial forecasts and budget analyses
  • Estimate quarterly expense accruals, including pre-clinical and clinical studies. Build and maintain robust Excel workbooks for all projects that enable:
    • Estimation of work performed at each period-end
    • Comparison of expense trends against Budget/Forecast
    • Tracking of invoices received and/or paid by purchase order
    • Tracking of expenses recorded on the General Ledger
  • Scale financial infrastructure as needed, including systems, tools, processes, financial policies and procedures
  • Provide direction to clients on key corporate financial policies, such as Sarbanes-Oxley and departmental policies to ensure proper GAAP treatment of expenses
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (e.g. CRO finance partners) and help troubleshoot finance-related issues.
  • On an as needed basis, participate on high-priority valuation or corporate development projects, including analyses supporting clinical program investment decisions. Projects may also include analyses for M&A and licensing decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Accounting or Finance. MBA and/or CPA preferred.
  • At least eight years of Finance-related experience with at least three years in FP&A required; Life Science/Biotech experience required.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills to support financial analysis and executive presentations
